SAYANTIKA

SAYANTIKA

Origin: Kolkata, India
Contact: Ashish Manchanda

Song: "Memories Remain"

Sayantka hails from Kolkata, perhaps the most important cultural center of India. True to the Eastern and Western influences over many centuries which have stimulated and contributed to Kolkata's cultural life, Sayantika's music reflects similar blends. She started writing poetry at the young age of 10 which soon turned into songwriting. The next steps were programming her own music which she followed. Towards the end of her educational tenure at India Institute of Technology, where she earned a Masters in Geology, she decided to pursue music full time. In 2015, she signed up with Ashish Manchanda and Springboard Records as a singer, songwriter and producer, after which she's performed extensively including at the Totem Pole Music Festival, the Worli Festival, The Finch, Godrej L'affaire, and Zero Mile Music Festival. Sayantika's music is alternative pop. Along with her favourite artists, The Beatles, Coldplay, Radiohead, Gorillaz, and many more, her major influences include film scores and Bollywood music, which are all reflected in her songs. Her textured vocals add to the cinematic experience that forms the most notable element in her music. Her songs often revolve around themes of melancholy, self-discovery and childhood nostalgia.
