POLAROID SUMMER

POLAROID SUMMER

Origin: Houston, TX, USA
Contact: Chris Hulse

Song: "The Giant"

Polaroid Summer was formed when two well-known Texas bands decided it was time for a fresh start, with Versecity vocalist Micaiah Walker joining forces with drummer Brian Barrett, guitarist Trace Sisson and bassist Kenneth Conlon of Lost Element. After being introduced by mutual manager Chris Hulse with Snoring Gorilla Management, they played a string of shows in the fall of 2016 with Walker filling in at lead vocals; it didn't take long before they started writing and forming the new project, Polaroid Summer. "Polaroid Summer to us is nostalgic, which is why we chose the name," Barrett explains. "A Polaroid evokes the past and the summertime always reminds us of playing music and truly enjoying life." While writing and working at Mix Star Studios in Virginia Beach with producer Bryce Bordone (the nephew of 11-time Grammy Award-winning mixer Serban Ghenea) they developed the New Age alt-pop sound that gives them cross-genre appeal. Channeling both electronic and organic elements combined with big propulsive beats, catchy guitar licks and hook-driven lead vocals, the band's debut EP features everything from the self-empowering messages within first single "The Giant" (mixed by Ghenea) to heartfelt tracks about loss and healing captured in "Feeling Connected" to the millennial generation singalong anthem "American Gold."
