Co-President, Capitol Records UK

Jo Charrington, Co-President of Capitol Records in the U.K., got her career start at London Records in 1992 as a marketing assistant where she met Nick Raphael. She transitioned to Virgin Records in 1994 to work in the International Department under Nancy Berry, then left to work for then President of BMG, Jeremy Marsh. In 1996, after recommending Marsh to do a label deal with Raphael and Tattersfield (Northwestside Records), Charrington left her job to put together and manage the R&B boy band, Another Level, alongside John Reid (Elton John/Queen). She later signed them to her friends at Northwestside, the newly formed subsidiary of BMG.

After Reid left the management business, Charrington joined with Simon Fuller before moving to Epic to join Raphael in 2001. Together at Epic Records they experienced significant success with BRIT Award-winning, multi-platinum artists JLS, Lemar and Paloma Faith, as well as signing multi-Grammy award winner Imogen Heap. Their roster also included Aloe Blacc, Charlotte Church, Olly Murs, The Priests and Scouting For Girls and over the decade at Sony, they had 22 platinum+ albums, 10 U.K. No.1 singles and three U.K. No.1 albums. Charrington joined Raphael when he returned to London Records under Universal Music which became Capitol Records U.K. Since that time, the duo has built a roster that includes Sam Smith (20M+ album sales), 5 Seconds Of Summer (the only band in history to have their first 3 albums go to No.1 in the U.S.) and Liam Payne (whose debut single is the best selling solo single from any One Direction member). Across their 24 year stint of working together Charrington and Raphael have seen their artists generating 23 U.K. No.1 singles, 12 U.K. No.1 albums, 4 U.S. No.1 albums and selling over 100 million albums. They have also built and sold 2 publishing companies in their spare time.
