BRANDON YOUNG

BRANDON YOUNG

Sr. Director of Music Affairs, Activision

Leading Activision’s music department, Brandon Young has overseen the musical creative direction for Activision’s full product slate and marketing creative, placed and licensed over 4,000 commercial songs for in-game use, launched some of the most iconic music collaborations in Activision’s, and in gaming history, and has worked with the world’s leading modern composers to create orchestral soundtracks. In more than thirteen years with the company, Young has led the music production behind leading game franchises such as Call of Duty, a game that has consecutively broken its own records as the most successful entertainment launch in history and the most successful video game of all time. Young was also responsible for overseeing the music selection and in-game celebrity talent integrations for Activision’s franchise, Guitar Hero. He’s brought in well-known film composers such as Grammy and Academy Award-winners Hans Zimmer and Michael Giacchino, as well as other veteran composers including Harry Gregson-Williams, David Buckley, Graeme Revell, and Lorne Balfe.

Additionally, Young’s involvement encompasses the Bungie-developed Destiny; World of Warcraft by Blizzard, as well as other Blizzard success stories Overwatch and Diablo; mobile titles Candy Crush and Farmville; and others. Activision has also recently entered the film and TV arena under the dedicated division AB Studios, led by two film veterans. Its first release, Skylanders Academy, is heading into its third season on Netflix, with other Activision work to follow in the TV and film space.
