The Swoons are an international alternative/pop group consisting of Matt Underwood, Tony Ann, Giacomo Timbrello and Trevor Myall. Hailing from London, Toronto, Los Angeles and Vancouver/Newfoundland respectively, the group was first founded by Matt and Tony, while attending college in Boston, MA, over their love for popular music and songwriting/composition. Giacomo was later introduced to the group through a mutual friend first collaborating with the two as a producer before later coming on board as a full-time member.
Following the success of their single “Sabre,” in addition to working on a debut EP, Tony from the group would channel his classic roots as a pianist into weekly cover videos shot in his college classrooms. One particular cover caught the attention of DJ/producer duo The Chainsmokers who later invited Tony to tour as their official keyboardist for their North American Arena Tour “Memories Do Not Open.” Tony then began writing multiple singles with them including “Sick Boy,” “Side Effects (feat. Emily Warren)” and “Call You Mine (feat. Bebe Rexha).”
The then-trio collaborated with songwriters and producers both signed and unsigned throughout 2018 which included their first collaboration with Trevor Myall. While Trevor actually studied at the same college in Boston, the band never crossed paths to collaborate. However, their first sessions together yielded a seamless connection creatively that the trio shortly blossomed into the four-piece today.
The Swoons continuee to experiment with sound and writing styles through the release of the single “Lost Frequency” which featured vocals from Los Angeles indie-pop group Transviolet and “One Way Ticket” (a 6-track debut project by Trevor Myall prior to his joining of the group) with the music spanning the genres of indie-pop, folk, dance, and electronic.
