RAINNE

RAINNE

Origin: Los Angeles, CA
Contact: Annie Dingwall

Song: "Psycho Killer"

Named for the elemental twists rain storms can take, from light drizzles to torrential downpours, RAINNE is drenched in emotional catharsis at their core. Comprised of singer-songwriter Annie Dingwall and saxophonist/engineer Justin Klunk, the classically trained pair’s twisted, sinister pop offers a blend of sophisticated pop songwriting prowess (and penchant for ear worms that cut) with a late-night-drive of West Coast mystique that could easily soundtrack grim L.A. staples like Nightcrawler, Drive, or Mulholland Drive. The experimental duo first met during GRAMMY Camp in Los Angeles, the summer before attending USC’s Thornton School of Music Popular Music Performance Program. Post-graduation, Annie earned synchs as a songwriter on American Crime, The Doctors, and Nude; while Justin toured as a saxophonist for Saint Motel, Ariana Grande, Lindsey Stirling and Tommy Page. To date RAINNE has released five singles: “Petty,” “Psycho Killer,” “Dirty Little Dream,” “Hollow” and “Sin,” which have earned praise from EARMILK, Ladygunn and more. The band’s heady live show has become a must-see in the Los Angeles circuit, with recent performances on Chris Sampson’s iHeartRadio program Joy Sounds, as well as at the Hollywood Bowl, where they performed during the We Can Survive benefit concert that featured sets by Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Camila Cabello, Marshmello and more. They earned the opening slot after beating out 14,000 acts in Radio.com's Opening Act competition. After the performance, The Recording Academy profiled the band on Grammy.com, and called them “L.A.’s dark-pop duo on a meteoric rise.” —NICK WILLIAMS
