The global music industry’s annual business conference and showcase event MUSEXPO concluded last week in Los Angeles with phenomenal feedback and reaction from the international music community in attendance on its newly-reimagined program. The event continues to be regarded by industry leaders as one of the most important annual gatherings for those truly vested in the global music business and offers some of the best creative and business interaction, opportunities and networking for its attendees from around the world.

As MUSEXPO remains focused and boutique in size, the impact for those attending the event continues to be substantial. MUSEXPO 2017 honored two of the music industry’s most successful and inspiring executives in presenting Monte Lipman and Avery Lipman, the Co-Founders of Republic Records, with its “International Music Persons of the Year Award.” The event featured awards presentations from Sir Lucian Grainge (Chairman & CEO, Universal Music Group); A&R Worldwide & MUSEXPO Founder & President Sat Bisla; City of Los Angeles Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell; and President & CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Leron Gubler, and recognized the Lipman’s for their incredible impact on the global music community.

MUSEXPO kicked-off with its A&R EXPO on Sunday, April 30th featuring an in-depth interview with highly-successful A&R executive Jason Flom (Founder & CEO, Lava Records/Lava Music Publishing), conducted by Music Week Editor Mark Sutherland, with Flom sharing insight on his history in the business and his perspective on the future of A&R and overall successful talent development. This was followed by a keynote A&R panel featuring hit songwriter/producer Alex da Kid; Republic Records’ Sr. VP of A&R Jason Jordan; Sr. VP of A&R and Head of Creative for Disney Music Group, Mio Vukovic; Atlantic Records Head of A&R, Pete Ganbarg; Robin Jenssen the VP & General Manager of EKKO Music Rights Europe; and hit songwriter/producer Savan Kotecha. In addition, Red Bull Records Managing Director Greg Hammer participated in a rare keynote interview with Music Business Worldwide’s Tim Ingham. Ingham also conducted a great in-depth keynote interview at MUSEXPO with Atlantic Records Chairman & CEO Craig Kallman, which was preceded by Mark Sutherland’s fantastic Global keynote that featured leading executives including Island Records President & CEO David Massey; BMG U.S. President of Repertoire & Marketing Zach Katz; Universal Music Group, Executive Vice President, Marketing, Andrew Kronfeld; Co-Founder & Executive Chairman, Saavn, Paramdeep Singh; and President, House of Blues Entertainment/Live Nation, Ron Bension.

This year’s MUSEXPO also saw the return of the annual “International Music Industry Awards” which were presented for their fourth edition in partnership with Pepsi. The event once again recognized the incredible contributions of the global music business’ leaders.

And as always, a plethora of great global talent showcased for agents, promoters, A&Rs, publishers, music supervisors, brands and radio influencers; numerous acts are already in talks for various deals worldwide via their MUSEXPO showcase performances last week.
