MUSIC INDUSTRY LEADERS TO UNITE IN AUSTRALIA The successful One Movement for Music and One Movement MUSEXPO Asia Pacific events (OMFM) www.onemovementmusic.com which launched in Perth, Australia last year, will again take place this year from October 6 - 10 in Western Australia. The event which attracted hundreds of Asia Pacific and worldwide delegates and the crème de la crème of emerging global talent is expected to raise the bar even higher in its second year.
Michael Chugg, Co-Promoter of the event stated, “We are very excited to announce the second One Movement for Music Showcase Festival and One Movement MUSEXPO Asia Pacific conference in Perth. I have just completed a world trip and the interest and excitement created by the successful outcomes of year one has certainly made One Movement a major date in the world music industry’s calendars for 2010.”
Speakers from One Movement MUSEXPO Asia Pacific and attendees for the overall One for Movement Music event 2009 have been vocal in their praise of the event with many providing testimonials advising the promoters of the successful outcomes they achieved at, and following the conference.
Seymour Stein, Chairman, Sire Records Group said, “I feel I was present at an historic event. Same way I felt when I went by instinct only to the very first MIDEM back in 1966 or 1967 right after Richard Gottehrer and I started Sire Records. I know that I am echoing what most other people thought. One Movement was totally groundbreaking.”
Andrea Von Foerster, Music Supervisor, Firestarter Music, USA says, “Thank you SO much for letting me be a part of such a great event with such wonderful talent! The Asia Pacific market is rife with music that people in the States rarely get to hear and I hope to change that with some placements if possible. One Movement MUSEXPO Asia Pacific was so well-run; you would have never known it was the first year. I can’t say enough great things about the entire event.”
Tom Windish, Founder, The Windish Agency, USA commented, “I was most impressed with the delegates I met and saw speak. I also met promoters from South Africa, India, Singapore and China. Hopefully these encounters will contribute to the future of my business. I was also impressed with the quality of the performers and the quality of their business associates, i.e. managers.”
Richard Kingsmill, Music Director, Triple J added, “One Movement was an impressive event last year. I got the chance of seeing a lot of international acts I would never have been exposed to, as well as a few Australian bands that had always eluded me. It was exciting to talk shop with some overseas contacts that would never have normally have crossed my path. As an Australian music fan, it was nice to watch excitement building for local acts like Hilltop Hoods, Art vs. Science and Blue King Brown amongst the overseas contingent. I made some contacts in India – where Australian acts seem welcome but the first steps need to be taken to get the bands to tour there and establish some business links. I also first heard about Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros from Richard Moffat at a One Movement breakfast. It turned out to be a pretty decent tip.”
One Movement for Music will be hosting highlight showcases of some of the great Australian home grown talent at events including MUSEXPO Los Angeles and MUSEXPO Europe and also recently presented acts at CMW in Toronto, Canada & SXSW.
Artist submissions for OMFM are now open via Sonicbids where one successful international submission will be flown to Perth to perform at the Festival. One lucky national submission will also be offered a performance opportunity at the Festival. For more information, go to www.onemovementmusic.com.
